Ballarat's Dazzling Lights
2009 Display

Old Displays:

Every year we try to introduce innovative changes and additions to our Christmas Lights display that are different to other displays in the Ballarat area. A summary of changes across the years can be found below.

2009:

  • We received 3rd prize in "The Courier Lights Up Ballarat for Christmas" competition.
  • We added 2 more Par64 RGB DMX spotlights to the garage.
  • We replaced the 9 spiral mini trees with 9 home made 3 colour selectable (red, green & white) LED mini trees, which were a great success.
  • Buck the singing reindeer and 2 backup snowmen singers took to the stage, in the garage, to provide vocals for all of our songs that contained singing.
  • We added the wall of red, green & white selectable LED lights to the rear of the garage. Originally this was going to be a Marty Fan, but we ran out of time, however the effect was great.
  • Santa made numerous appearances and we estimate that over 20,000 people came to see the display.
  • We rebuilt the Show Control System, which included the capability to switch to alternate show sequences via a wireless remote control.
  • We experimented with sending updates about our display via Twitter, which was well received.
  • Images and video of our display was used by Win Television in Ballarat as part of their Christmas Greetings.

2008:

  • Not a lot of changes for 2008 due to financial and time constraints.
  • Added a Nativity Scene in the Winter Wonderland and lit it with a RGB DMX controlled PAR64 spotlight.
  • We received 2nd prize in "The Courier Lights Up Ballarat for Christmas" competition.
  • We received equal 1st prize in "Light-O-Rama Annual Competition" for displays in 240VAC countries.

  • Santa handed out in excess of 3,000 lollies with the help of Mrs Claus (aka Juliette).
  • For some reason there were no website updates for 2008...

2005:

  • Not too many changes as Juliette was born in March absorbing any free time.
  • Mega Tree returned to full height with the addition of guy wires and a pulley system to raise the rope lights without bending the pole.
  • 5 x rope light Christmas Trees installed in the front yard.

2004:
