How many lights do you have in the display?
For our 2009 display there are approximately 47,000 lights ranging from tiny fairy lights through to 300W spot lights, including:
- 9,00 LEDs in the Mega Tree
- 4,000 LEDs in the Leaping Light Arches
- 4,800 LEDs in the Driveway Arches
- 3,620 LEDs in the Fireworks
- 12,800 LEDs in the Garage Fan
- 9 x PAR64 RGB DMX-512 controlled spotlights
- 9,720 LEDs in the mini trees
How much does power does the display consume?
10,000 Watts (10KW) if everything is on at the same time. Fortunately only a portion of the lights are on simultaneously, so the power drain isn't very high.
How much did this year's lighting display cost?
More than last year's... Even still, we don't talk about the budget in front of Katie...
How long does the display take to set up?
Planning for our 2009 display started in December, 2008. Specialist items were purchased or imported during the year. Sequencing of music commenced in January. Installation takes approximately 2 weeks and commences early November, so that late night testing and fault finding can occur before the 1 December switch-on date.
Where are you located?
16 Lauderdale Avenue, Alfredton, Victoria, Australia. Further details and a detailed map can be found here.
What do your neighbours think about all of this?
Our neighbours are great and have been very supportive of our efforts over previous years and preparing for this year. There are a few new neighbours who have no idea what is about to hit them, but we guess that they will work it out fairly quickly...
When will the display operate?
It is planned that the display will run from Tuesday 1st December 2009 until Thursday 31st December 2009, although things will probably start to wind down from 26th December.
