Countdown Until Switch On:
Fireworks:
21 June 2007
A large illuminated firework is to be placed between the garage and the house. The initial design is based on one from Don Williams at Lake Myra Christmas. Don's design used 7 channels for the rocket, 1 channel for a central explosion, 1 channel for the 8 spokes and 1 channel for the explosions at the end of the 8 spokes.
Our design is based on 8 channels for the rocket segments, 1 channel for a central explosion, 1 channel for the 8 spokes and 6 channels for the outer explosions. 3 channels wil be used on 4 of the spokes to switch red, green and white LEDs for the outer explosions and a further 3 channels will be used on the other 4 spokes to switch the red, green and white LEDs for the other explosions. This will allow us to have the same colour explosions across all 8 spokes or 4 of one colour and 4 of another colour to add variety to the display. The diameter of the explosion is 2m wide. If it all sounds confusing have a look at the diagram below...
A total of 2020 White LEDs, 800 Green LEDs and 800 Red LEDs have been used in construction of the firework and it is all controlled through a single Light-O-Rama CMB16D DC Controller.
Plans for the design of the Fireworks can be viewed here.
